Thriving, Not Just Surviving, After Cancer

Last financial year Life Insurance companies all over Australia paid over 1.55 Billion dollars to Cancer claims.

As you Claims Consultants, Case Managers, Rehab Consultants, Rehab Advisors and Recovery Specialists read this, we know you care. We know you care about the outcome for these customers.

Just like you, we feel good about having the opportunity to make a positive impact in their life after hearing the dreaded word “Cancer” from a Doctor’s mouth.

And we understand the insurance world, we know nothing comes for free, so we aim to achieve cost-effective but superior outcomes for your customers.

That’s why we developed the ReBalance™ program. A holistic exercise and wellness program improving cancer recovery and wellbeing.

Exercise is a vital tool in supporting cancer survival rates as well as preventing reoccurrence. But exercise is just one component in our program that helps Cancer survivors return to a normal life.

Life is so much more than just surviving.

It’s about enjoying a balance of individual and community experiences through connection and contribution.

Specialised Health’s ReBalance

Most people have an idea about what might be good for them. ReBalance™ bridges this gap between education and implementation; providing real-time guidance and direction to those who have previously, or who still are, fighting cancer.

ReBalance™ is a 6 session health coaching program delivered over 3 months by our Accredited Exercise Physiologists.

The goal is to educate and empower survivors.

Every individual has a different experience with cancer. So each customer needs to be treated as such and as a whole person, not just as their cancer. They have different cancers, different symptoms and varying severity, different treatments and each person comes from a different background: age, gender, family, vocation and hobbies. They all have different goals.

Despite these differences there are some basic lifestyle strategies that can help everyone.

With their own personal function and goals in mind, each individual is provided the following:

  • Guidance on safe levels of exercise & advice on fatigue management using Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability and Daily Step Count
  • Education in Nutrition for Cancer Recovery with meal plan examples (overseen by our resident Accredited Practising Dietician, Chantelle Wardini).
  • Sleep Hygiene instruction, optimising the sleep environment, sleep routine and behaviours
  • Stress Management planning including an introduction to mindfulness
  • Follow up support phone calls
