At Specialised Health, we have been providing mobile exercise physiology services since our inception in 2013, and it’s not a decision we take lightly – there are compelling reasons why we continue to prioritise this approach.
We are well aware that travel charges can add an extra cost, and we occasionally do have to navigate sensitive conversations around whether the cost of travel is really necessary. Our response is almost always a resounding YES.
Quite simply, having Exercise Physiologists who are mobile improves client outcomes. Let us explain why!
Tailoring Programs to Fit Our Clients
With our mobile approach, we have the flexibility to meet clients in various environments that suit their preferences and program requirements. Whether it’s at their homes, local gyms, pools, or parks, we believe in creating a space that fosters the very tasks we aim to improve. While traditional clinic settings have their appeal, we prefer to meet clients where they feel most comfortable and where their progress can truly thrive.
Additionally, we offer the choice of face-to-face sessions, telehealth consultations, or a combination of both, depending on what works best for each client. By tailoring our programs to specific locations and offering diverse options, we not only provide personalised exercise prescriptions but also increase the likelihood of long-term adherence. Clients are not limited to a single service location; instead, we adapt the location to work for them. This approach empowers clients to stay committed to their programs, achieving sustainable results in the long run.
Removing Barriers to Access
By adopting a mobile approach, we have successfully eliminated many significant hurdles that may impede access to our services. From a practical standpoint, our reach extends across both Australia and New Zealand, encompassing remote areas where access to exercise physiology services may be limited or even non-existent. By deploying EPs to these remote regions and leveraging the power of telehealth (where face-to-face is not an option), we can extend our services to those who would otherwise be without support.
Shifting our focus, we also recognise the hidden barriers faced by individuals dealing with serious health conditions. For someone battling severe fatigue, overwhelming anxiety, or depression, the simple phrase “we’ll come to you” can be an immense relief. By offering our mobile services, we remove the initial obstacle of leaving the house and meet clients exactly where they are, before progressing as appropriate.
Our Staff at Their Best
Last, but definitely not least, we cannot deny that the mobile model works wonders for our staff. By embracing a mobile model, we attract driven individuals and empower them to deliver their best work and provide exceptional care to our clients.
Of course we have many processes in place to foster camaraderie, collaboration and support. But our Exercise Physiologists have the freedom and autonomy to structure their days according to theirs and their clients’ needs, optimising their availability and ensuring they can be fully present during each session. This flexibility enables our staff to be their best, establish strong connections and build rapport with clients, which are crucial factors in achieving positive outcomes.
Experience it for yourself
Enhanced individualisation, the removal of major barriers, staff at their absolute best….
As compelling as our argument is, the best way to really experience the magic of a mobile approach is to find out for yourself!
